Ashdod, the fifth biggest city in Israel was founded in 1956 and has a long history of housing Jewish immigrants, 'Olim' from all over the globe, which makes it a pleasant place for every one, from every origin, and one can feel at home there. Along the years Ashdod was the first home in Israel for some 70,000 Jewish immigrants.
The city is growing in population at about 9,000 people per year, and its current population is 220,000.
Ashdod is hugely affected by the city being on the coastline of the mediteranean with an 11 Km coastline. Also it is in a perfect geographic location, being 30 minutes away from Tel Aviv, 70 Km away from Beer Sheva and 70 Km from Jerusalem.
Another great advantage Ashdod real estate has is its urban design. The city is divided into seventeen housing quarters, the city quarter, the special quarter and three industrial areas, of the most important in Israel. Ashdod urban designers made a complete separation between all housing quarters and the industrial zones, and every housing quarter has all the community services like education, culture, health, trade and more, within walking distance.
One more thing Ashdod excels in is the transportation system in the city. Every day 40 trains are passing through Ashdod, as well as dozens of busses and taxis. The roads in the city are wide and easy and the traffic is not held. Also there are hardly ever problems with parking, and the parking in Ashdod is free.
Ashdod's municipality gives an extra care for the appearance of the town and it has many parks and public gardens with hundreds of facilities for children.
Economically Ashdod was chosen as the most stable city in Israel for two years in a row, and for over ten years the city has been given awards for a balance financial management and for excellent municipal management.
Ashdod municipality says that every Shekel that is collected into the city and every Shekel saved by better organization is given back into the city, into education, into real estate and really this is the thing that determines the high quality of life in Ashdod.
